Standard 182 Cat is still in place but soon to be modified for extra flow...

RS Tuner by Fastchip

I decided that I wanted to remap the car, after much research I decided to order the RS Tuner self mapping kit from Fastchip

I am only using the generic remaps and have not yet used the custom mapping service.

The maps give great results with the increased rev limit and great driveability.

Powerflex Black Antiroll Bar Bushes

Produced in the stiffer black compound offered by powerflex -

Fitting the mounts is a pain in the arse, the inner ARB bushes are a challenge -

Mark Fish Motorsport Soild Front Top Mounts

Designed by Mark Fish to remove all movement from the standard Renault front rubber top mounts. Bolted to the strut they are 100% Solid.

Fitting the top mounts wasn’t too much trouble with the aid of a template for drilling the 4 holes each side -

Steering response is so direct with the solid top mounts, there is no movement and the car turns in with 100% precision on track. One of the best modifications available.

Larger Accelerator Pedal

I had a larger accelerator pedal made to help with gear changes on track, I also lifted the accelerator pedal using 5mm spacers.

182 Race Car Tow Eyes

As used on the 182 Race Car these tow eyes do not stick out from the bumper like the standard one supplied by Renault, save's your shins when walking around the car!

Photobucket

The Front tow eye is a straight screw in item on the Clio -

The Rear tow eye needs to be bolted into the rear as the 182 doesnt have a threaded sleeve as on the ph1 172 -

Both tow eyes have now been powder coated red...

Wheel Stud Conversion

Purchased from eBay to convert the standard wheel bolts to studs. Also some McGard locking wheel nuts to protect the alloys. Makes changing wheels much easier on trackdays...

Powerflex Lower Engine Mount

I fitted the Powerflex uprated lower engine mount bushes. This helps reduce the amount of engine movement.

The next stage will be to replace all the mounts with a RenaultSport Group N engine mount kit

Speedline Corse 2118 Alloy Wheels

I chose to use the 15" Speedline Corse 2118 Alloy wheels as used on the 182 Clio Race Cars.

When looking to purchase the wheels Speedline offered a 15" High Duty version of the 2118. These were the alloy's used on the Palmersport Clio Cup cars. Available in one fitment 15*7J ET43 each wheel weight's 9 KG's without a tyre. This version was closest to the standard offset of the ET45 Cup Pack wheels.

Renaultsport Clio Cup 197 Race Car Parts

When I first saw the new Clio 197 race car I decided that I wanted to use the steering wheel and harnesses in my 182. R Sport in Wimbledon were able to supply the race car parts.

The steering wheel is fitted using a Momo hub and the light stalk was changed for one from a poverty spec Clio featuring a horn button on the end.

The harnesses are Sabelt Ultra light 6 point's featuring "Renaultsport" stitching.

Safety Devices Roll Cage

I wanted to use the Clio on track as much as possible, I therefore decided that a roll cage would be a good option, not only would it stiffen up the chassis but provide essential protection should the worse happen.

Mark Fish Motorsport in Harlow supplies and fits the Safety Devices roll cage. I had the rear section fitted for the first year and then fitted the front section of the roll cage in July 2008.

The cage features a removable diagonal/harness bar and removable door bars. It can be fitted with the full standard interior in place and retains the use of the 5 seats.

LEDA Coilover Suspension

I chose LEDA Coilover suspension in 2006 for a previous Clio. The front dampers were slightly modified to fit onto my Clio 182 by Mark Fish Motorsport. The front dampers have camber bolts built in and allow a maximum of around negative 3.5 degrees. Each damper has 24 positions for bump and rebound adjustment. Each damper is fully rebuildable and serviceable. I have recently had the rear units serviced by the new LEDA in Derby. The quality of the service was excellent and the ride quality has improved since they were serviced. I will consider servicing the fronts in the New Year...
